Trainee Estimator – Commercial Landscaping – Carnforth Based

The role of a Trainee/Assistant Estimator would be to work alongside the estimating team to obtain understanding and knowledge of how estimates are prepared, documentation that forms a tender enquiry, how projects costs are built through to final tender submission. This role will be based in Carnforth but will the candidate will work on jobs that are based in Glasgow.

There will be opportunity to develop and progress within the business and become an integral part of the estimating team.

The main duties and responsibilities of the role include:

· Gain a full understanding of the tender process and tender documentation.

· Assist the Estimators to calculate and collate material, equipment and labour costs into the cost build up document.

· Liaising with clients, suppliers and subcontractors.

· Preparing and submitting tender documents to meet required deadlines.

· Following up on tender submissions, monitoring and updating the tender index.

Candidate

The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate:

· A high level of IT proficiency, particularly within Microsoft Excel

· Excellent numerical skills

· Ability to work to a high degree of accuracy

· Strong communications skills

· Strong organisation and time management awareness

· Willingness to learn and an enthusiasm to develop and progress

Contracts Manager – Commercial Landscaping – Midlands

We are recruiting for a Contracts Manager working from our Leamington Spa, West Midlands office.

Main purpose of this job:

To ensure that all projects are managed in a consistent and professional manner and in accordance with Ashlea Limited ISO Accredited Management systems.

Relationships:

Reporting to Operations & Commercial Directors, overseeing Foreman and site staff, liaising with clients and landscape architects.

As part of the contract management team working on various projects you will be expected to:

  • Organise staff under your control.
  • Maintain Health and Safety Standards on site, complying with company policy and legislative requirements; promote safety awareness, set an example.
  • Comply with environmental legislation/ regulations, company policy and minimise environmental impact of our activities
  • Follow quality procedures and highlight opportunities for improvement
  • Ensure economical and efficient use of company resources throughout all activities.
  • Maintain standards of excellence, ensuring the continuance of the company’s reputation and client satisfaction.
  • Produce significant contribution to annual turnover of contract work and related activities and demonstrate commercial viability.
  • Attend and contribute to Management Team Meetings

Grounds Maintenance – Carnforth

Main duties will be programmed grounds maintenance activities but will also be required to carry out planting and other landscaping duties when necessary with clients such as English Heritage.

All applicants must be reliable and hardworking, and have experience in soft landscaping and grounds maintenance works.

Applicant Requirements:

Driving licence is not essential

Valid CSCS/LISS Card or prepared to work towards

Previous experience in a Landscape Maintenance would be advantageous.

Trailer Licence would be advantageous.

Ideally qualified to NVQ 2 in Horticulture or equivalent but not essential.

Arboricultural Foreman/Supervisor – Carnforth

We are currently recruiting for : Arboricultural foreman/ Supervisor/ Operative to work from our Head Office at Carnforth, based near Lancaster

We require experienced tree surgeons / arborists who take pride in their work.

You will be required to assist with a wide range of works, including tree felling and vegetation clearance and Highway verge maintenance works.

Duties will include but not limited to –

  • Tree felling
  • Dismantle
  • Crown Thinning/reductions
  • Pollarding

Your skill set should involve prior arboricultural maintenance operations, knowledge of common host-specific tree concerns, and tree species identification.

Main tasks and responsibilities

As part of the Arboricultural team working on various projects you will be expected to:

  • To report back to the Arboricultural foreman/Manager with progression of contracts
  • To be proficient with various harnessed climbing styles, Groundsman duties, Chainsaw whilst in a tree operations, Ariel rescue techniques, up-to-date rigging practices, and proper pruning/removal techniques.
  • Must be willing to understand and adhere to all rules and safety policies.
  • Applicants must be able to carry out duties with the utmost respect to personal property, company property, and environmental policies.
  • Beginning each day with team meetings to outline the responsibilities and requirements of the day for each team member.
  • Being prepared for the daily activities and any surprises that may arise from being in a constantly changing workplace.

Skills and Experience Requirements

  • Have a full UK driving licence.
  • Category B&E license (tow trailers up to 3500kg) (Preferred).
  • City & Guilds NPTC Level 2, Chainsaw Maintenance and Cross Cutting
  • City & Guilds NPTC Level 2, Felling and Processing Trees up to 380mm
  • City & Guilds NPTC Level 2, Tree Climbing and Rescue
