The role of a Trainee/Assistant Estimator would be to work alongside the estimating team to obtain understanding and knowledge of how estimates are prepared, documentation that forms a tender enquiry, how projects costs are built through to final tender submission. This role will be based in our Carnforth office.
There will be opportunity to develop and progress within the business and become an integral part of the estimating team.

– Maintain records of all estimate related documentation

Arboricultural Foreman and an Arboricultural Operative – Wakefield Depot
This role requires individuals who are suitably qualified and knowledgeable of all aspects of tree maintenance works. Previous supervisory experience and experience of working in an arboricultural environment is essential.
We require experienced tree surgeons / arborists who take pride in their work.
General duties:
To lead a team or work within a team (dependent on role) in all aspects of arboricultural tasks including pruning, felling and planting.
Perform crown lifting and shaping, this includes substantially lifting the crown of the tree to aid the passing of vehicles and pedestrians beneath the tree.
Perform crown reduction to any tree, this includes the removal of substantially large branches from the crown of the tree.
Undertake stump and timber chipping operations using appropriate equipment.
Perform tree felling operations, this includes taking trees down by sections where appropriate or straight felling if the site allows using the correct arboricultural practices.
Perform removal of epicormic growth from trunk and base of tree.
To carry out site clearance work to ensure it is left in a safe and acceptable condition after arboricultural work has taken place.
Suitable candidates must have the following requirements:
· Chainsaw Tickets (CS30;CS31;CS32 – now QCF Award)
· Woodchipper Operations Ticket (Lantra/NPTC)
Any of the following qualifications would be an advantage but not essential:
· Chainsaw Tickets (CS38; CS39 – now QCF Award)
· Experience / qualifications in the use of a brushcutter
· Experience / qualifications in the use of a ride on mower
· Pesticide Application (PA1 & PA6)
· First Aid Certificate
· Category B&E license (tow trailers up to 3500kg).
· Valid CSCS and ROLO Card
· Full driver’s license

Arboricultural Climbers and Lead Climbers – Carnforth
We are currently recruiting for : Arboricultural Climber and Lead Climbers to work from our Head Office at Carnforth, based near Lancaster
We require experienced tree surgeons / arborists who take pride in their work.
You will be required to assist with a wide range of works, including tree felling and vegetation clearance and Highway verge maintenance works.
Duties will include but not limited to –
- Tree felling
- Dismantle
- Crown Thinning/reductions
- Pollarding
Your skill set should involve prior arboricultural maintenance operations, knowledge of common host-specific tree concerns, and tree species identification.
Main tasks and responsibilities
As part of the Arboricultural team working on various projects you will be expected to:
- To report back to the Arboricultural foreman/Manager with progression of contracts
- To be proficient with various harnessed climbing styles, Groundsman duties, Chainsaw whilst in a tree operations, Ariel rescue techniques, up-to-date rigging practices, and proper pruning/removal techniques.
- Must be willing to understand and adhere to all rules and safety policies.
- Applicants must be able to carry out duties with the utmost respect to personal property, company property, and environmental policies.
- Beginning each day with team meetings to outline the responsibilities and requirements of the day for each team member.
- Being prepared for the daily activities and any surprises that may arise from being in a constantly changing workplace.
Skills and Experience Requirements
- Have a full UK driving license.
- Category B&E license (tow trailers up to 3500kg) (Preferred).
- City & Guilds NPTC Level 2, Chainsaw Maintenance and Cross Cutting

Grounds Maintenance Operative – Glasgow Depot
Ashlea Limited are a leading commercial landscaping contractor, specialising in all aspects of soft landscaping, arboriculture works and grounds maintenance.

Grounds Maintenance – working in the Glasgow Area.
Main duties will be programmed grounds maintenance activities but will also be required to carry out planting and other landscaping duties when necessary with clients.
