Estimator – Commercial Landscaping – Glasgow

Job Description: The role of the Estimator would be to review incoming enquiries, prepare, process and submit tenders for commercial landscape contracts, whilst assisting in the development of our recently appointed trainee estimator.

The main duties and responsibilities of the role include:

  • Analyse clients BOQs and technical specifications
  • Extract information from tender drawings including taking off quantities both manually and using IT software
  • Compiling bills of quantities
  • Collate quotations to calculate materials, equipment and labour costs
  • Liaising with clients, suppliers and subcontractors
  • Utilise several computing packages and online tendering portals
  • Preparing and submitting compliant tenders to meet required deadlines
  • Liaise with other departments to assist in the handover of projects
  • Following up on tender submissions, monitoring and updating the tender index

The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate:

  • Good awareness of tendering and the estimating process
  • A high level of IT proficiency, particularly within Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent numerical skills
  • Ability to work to a high degree of accuracy
  • Able to demonstrate professional communications at all levels
  • Strong organisational skills
  • The ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines

Contracts Manager – Commercial Landscaping – Midlands

We are recruiting for a Contracts Manager working from our Leamington Spa, West Midlands office.

Main purpose of this job:

To ensure that all projects are managed in a consistent and professional manner and in accordance with Ashlea Limited ISO Accredited Management systems.

Relationships:

Reporting to Operations & Commercial Directors, overseeing Foreman and site staff, liaising with clients and landscape architects.

As part of the contract management team working on various projects you will be expected to:

  • Organise staff under your control.
  • Maintain Health and Safety Standards on site, complying with company policy and legislative requirements; promote safety awareness, set an example.
  • Comply with environmental legislation/ regulations, company policy and minimise environmental impact of our activities
  • Follow quality procedures and highlight opportunities for improvement
  • Ensure economical and efficient use of company resources throughout all activities.
  • Maintain standards of excellence, ensuring the continuance of the company’s reputation and client satisfaction.
  • Produce significant contribution to annual turnover of contract work and related activities and demonstrate commercial viability.
  • Attend and contribute to Management Team Meetings

Skills and Experience Requirements:

  • Experience in a similar role
  • SMSTS
  • CSCS
  • Full UK Driving licence
  • Self-motivation with the ability to use own initiative
  • Be able to demonstrate suitable experience in related discipline
  • Have suitable experience at a Site level of suitably large or complex projects
  • Excellent communication skills

Quantity Surveyor – Commercial Landscaping – Midlands

We are looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join our team based at our Leamington Spa, West Midlands Office.

In this role you would be commercially responsible from inception to completion for all our soft landscape, arboricultural and grounds maintenance projects within the Midlands and Southern Region.

Applicants are to have Quantity Surveying experience supported by a strong contracting background and will be required to be self-sufficient in all aspects of Quantity Surveying and Cost Management tasks, reporting to the commercial and operational directors.

The main duties and responsibilities of the role include:

  • Cost and Value management
  • Assist with preparation, maintenance, and agreement of Project accounts
  • Assist with providing commercial and financial reporting information
  • Ensure compliance with Ashlea Ltd standards and procedures in respect of Commercial activities
  • Liaising with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors
  • Subcontract procurement and management
  • Liaise with other departments to assist in handover of project
  • Adherence to Ashlea Ltd policies and procedures

The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate:

  • Good awareness of tendering and estimating process
  • A high level of IT proficiency, particularly within Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent numerical skills
  • Ability to work to a high degree of accuracy

All applicants must be reliable and hardworking, and have experience in grounds maintenance works and soft landscaping (seeding, turfing, soil preparation, tree planting, shrub planting, mulching)

  • Valid CSCS card essential.
  • ROLO Card is desirable.
  • A full UK driving licence is desirable.
  • Trailer Licence would be advantageous.

Maintenance Operative – Glasgow

Landscaping Operative – Grounds Maintenance Operative – working from our Glasgow Depot

Main duties will be programmed grounds maintenance activities but will also be required to carry out planting and other landscaping duties when necessary.

All applicants must be reliable and hardworking, and have experience in soft landscaping and grounds maintenance works.

Applicant Requirements:

Essential

  • A full UK driving licence is essential
  • Valid CSCS/LISS Card or prepared to work towards
  • PA1 & PA6 Spraying Certification

Desirable

  • Previous experience in a commercial landscape environment
  • Trailer Licence would be advantageous.
  • Ideally qualified to NVQ 2 in Horticulture or equivalent.
